Compassionate Psychiatry, Personalized to You

Welcome! I’m Caitlyn Champion, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care. I focus on medication management, therapy, evaluations, and equine assisted mental health services. With extensive experience, I empower individuals and families with the tools and support needed to navigate challenges and achieve lasting well-being.

My Services

Welcome—I’m so glad you’re here. I provide thoughtful, evidence-based mental health services for children, teens, adults, and families. Whether you're navigating a specific challenge or simply need a supportive space to talk and be heard, I’m here to help.

Together, we’ll work toward greater emotional resilience, healthier patterns, and meaningful, lasting change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and personalized to meet your needs—wherever you are in your journey.

In addition to traditional telehealth services, I also offer an option for in-person equine-assisted psychiatric care for those who are drawn to the calming, reflective presence of horses. All services—including therapy, medication management, and psychiatric evaluations—can be offered with or without the inclusion of a horse, depending on your comfort and goals.

I’m based in Denver and currently accept major insurance plans, with self-pay options available to keep care accessible. If you’d like to learn more or schedule an appointment, feel free to fill out the contact form or follow the link below to get started with telehealth.

You’re not alone—support is just a conversation away.

  • This is our starting point. Psychiatric evaluations with me typically last 60 to 90 minutes, providing ample time to understand your unique experiences and symptoms. While I do provide a diagnosis, my primary focus is on understanding how your symptoms are affecting your daily life and well-being. Together, we will explore the challenges you’re facing and develop a tailored treatment plan that addresses your individual needs and supports your path to healing.

  • In my medication management services, I take a holistic and personalized approach, working closely with individuals to ensure treatment aligns with their unique goals and needs. Whether you’re exploring medication for the first time, seeking adjustments, or considering stepping down from current prescriptions, I provide thoughtful guidance rooted in safety, collaboration, and clinical expertise.

I partner with patients and families to find the right medications when appropriate, monitor progress over time, and make careful adjustments as needed. I also support those who are interested in reducing or discontinuing medication—offering gradual, well-supported tapering plans when clinically appropriate.

Medication is just one piece of the picture. I encourage the integration of therapy, supplements, lifestyle shifts, home environment changes, and nutrition to create a comprehensive, sustainable path toward mental wellness.

  • In my therapy services, I offer a variety of evidence-based approaches. My therapeutic skillset encompasses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), inner child work, and attachment-focused therapy. Together, we’ll build coping skills, strengthen emotional resilience, and foster healthy patterns that support long-term growth and well-being.

Care for Mind & Mood Care for Mind & Mood

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide integrative mental health care to individuals and families across the lifespan. My approach is grounded in clinical expertise, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story.

I work with clients navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral challenges. If your experience doesn’t fall neatly into one category, that’s okay—my practice is open and adaptable to meet you where you are.

I have a particular interest in helping individuals move through stress, life transitions, trauma, and relational disruptions. Whether you're facing a recent loss, recovering from past abuse, or simply trying to make sense of a difficult chapter, I offer thoughtful, evidence-based care that supports healing and resilience.

In addition to individual sessions, I offer family therapy and parent coaching to help strengthen relationships at home. From navigating school refusal and test anxiety to building healthier communication and emotional regulation, we’ll work together to create more peace and connection.

My goal is to support both internal growth and external stability—helping you build the insight, tools, and confidence needed to move forward with strength and clarity.

Equine Assisted Psychiatric Care (optional add on)

I believe in the profound, healing connection between humans and horses. That’s why I offer equine-assisted psychiatric services as a core part of my practice. Whether you're seeking support through talk therapy, medication management, or a combination of both, I invite you to explore the unique and powerful benefits of working with horses in a therapeutic setting.

My horse and I partner together to offer these sessions in a peaceful stable environment within the Denver Metro area. Clients meet me on-site for sessions that blend traditional mental health care with the grounding, relational presence of a horse. These sessions are ideal for those looking to deepen their self-awareness, regulate emotions, build trust, or reconnect with a sense of calm and confidence.

You can choose to integrate equine-assisted therapy into your ongoing care, or book sessions as stand-alone experiences—completely à la carte. I currently offer:

  • Therapy-only sessions

  • Combined therapy + medication management sessions

If you’re interested in exploring how equine-assisted therapy might support your mental health journey, I’d be happy to connect. Because this is an in-person service, please reach out via email if you'd like to learn more and get on the waitlist for starting this summer.

More About Me

I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a deep-rooted passion for helping children, teens, young adults, and families feel understood, supported, and empowered in their mental health journey.

Before becoming a PMHNP, I spent years overseeing the inpatient psychiatric unit at Children’s Hospital Colorado. There, I managed complex, high-acuity cases and developed expertise in trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and crisis de-escalation. That experience shaped my ability to remain calm, curious, and connected—even in the most challenging moments.

During my advanced training, I served in a community mental health setting, where I worked closely with individuals navigating housing instability, severe mental illness, and systemic barriers to care. These experiences gave me a clearer understanding of the bigger picture—how care is delivered, where it falls short, and how to advocate for what patients truly need.

Today, I take an integrative, collaborative approach to psychiatric care—combining clinical expertise with curiosity, compassion, and creativity. I work closely with individuals and families to understand the why behind symptoms and to co-create treatment plans that reflect each person’s values, lifestyle, and goals. Whether that means therapy, medication, equine-assisted care, parenting / familial support—or a thoughtful combination—I believe healing begins with connection and is built one step at a time.

Outside of work, I find balance through movement, time in nature, and caring for my two rescue dogs and horse (who have big personalities and even bigger hearts). I love to read, cook from scratch, and volunteer with my husband each year at a children's home in Idaho—a place that continues to inspire and ground me.

Above all, I’m a person who believes in meeting people where they are, honoring their story, and helping them grow into their fullest, most authentic selves.

It's never too late to start your journey. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or someone you care about, I'm here to help.
