Frequently Asked Questions

1. What services do you offer?

I provide outpatient psychiatric care for children, teens, and young adults. Services include:

  • Psychiatric evaluations

  • Medication management

  • Parent and family support

  • Optional equine-assisted therapy (in person, case by case)

Care is always collaborative and tailored to each individual and family.

2. What does a typical session look like?

Every session is a little different, but here’s a general idea of what to expect:

Initial evaluation (60–75 minutes)
We’ll spend time talking through history, current concerns, and goals. This visit takes place via telehealth and is meant to feel thorough, supportive, and unrushed.

Follow-up sessions (30–50 minutes)
Follow-ups may include medication management, therapy, or a blend of both. Sessions are collaborative and adapt as needs change. Most visits are via telehealth unless equine-assisted therapy has been identified as a helpful option.

3. What is equine-assisted therapy?

Equine-assisted therapy brings horses into the therapeutic process in a calm, outdoor setting. No riding experience is needed. Sessions are ground-based and focus on connection, awareness, and emotional regulation.

Horses are naturally responsive and intuitive, which can make them especially helpful partners in therapy. This approach is often a great fit for children and teens who benefit from hands-on, experiential work.

4. Is equine-assisted therapy right for my child or teen?

Equine-assisted sessions may be a good fit for kids and teens who are:

  • Emotionally sensitive or relationship-oriented

  • Struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma

  • Feeling stuck or disengaged in traditional therapy

  • Drawn to animals, nature, or experiential learning

We’ll talk through whether this approach makes sense during the initial evaluation.

5. Do you accept insurance and what are your rates?

I bill through many major insurance plans, including Optum, United, Oxford, Oscar, UMR, Select Health Colorado, Carleon, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Quest Behavioral Health, Aetna, and Cigna.

If your insurance is not listed, self-pay options are available:

  • Initial evaluation: $275

  • Follow-up telehealth session (30 minutes): $175

  • Extended session or equine-assisted therapy (45–60 minutes): $225

6. Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Most services are offered virtually to clients across Colorado. Telehealth appointments are available for evaluations, medication management, and therapy, and insurance billing is supported through Headway when applicable.

7. Where are you located?

Equine-assisted therapy sessions take place in Franktown, Colorado. The setting is private, quiet, and intentionally designed to feel safe, grounding, and welcoming.

Telehealth services are available statewide throughout Colorado.
